Melody III Book II

The work in this book from 1977 is a graphic realization of the structure of a musical composition by famous minimalist musician Jon Gibson.

It is built on a 36 tone melody of even notes (units) which is augmented to lengths that divide evenly into 36 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, 18) The melody is played continously and repeatedly at the nine different lengths simultaneously. In this graphic version the nine different parts are superimposed. In another version the parts are kept separate. The contour of the melody (in units of 1) as it stands alone is found on the cover. This book is not a score in and of itself. Language: English
